Embrace the spirit of the sea and let this sticker be a small yet meaningful expression of your connection to maritime life.
Some 55 years ago, when F. L. Woods was still alive, we struck up a friendship that lasted until he died. When I was fresh out of college and done with my grand tour of Europe, I was living in Marblehead. On my grand tour, I broke the handle on my suitcase, and I promised myself that if I ever found a way to make a handle out of rope, I would learn how to do it. Fred was the person who helped me learn Marlinspike Seamanship by lending me a book, "The Marlinspike Sailor". As a tribute to Fred, who aided me in starting my small business, "The Marlinspike Sailor of Marlehead," I am happy to honor F. L. Woods by displaying the Red Buoy Sticker.
Great story, thank you for sharing it! I hope the suit case is still going strong ;-))
Fred was a real legend, sorry I missed when you popped in James. As you have may have heard, we have been busy spreading Fred Mojo to the west coast with my son opening the second F.L.Woods! We copied the original sign that Fred had L. Francis Herreshoff design and build for him.
Chuck, Sr. was my husband, father to our three grown children, six grandchildren and brother, cousin and friends. We celebrated his life and gathered on several boats at the red bell buoy off Plum Island in Ipswich Bay to spread his ashes. This red buoy decal will be given to family to display as we remember the first anniversary of his passing.
Thank you for the quality decal you sent.
These stickers are beyond beautiful. The quality of the material is so durable and the color is so vibrant! Highly recommend anything from FL Woods!
